සම්බුදු තෙමඟුල සිදුවූ වෙසක් පුන් පුර පසළොස්වක පොහෝ දිනය අදට යෙදී තිබෙනවා. සිද්ධාර්ථ කුමාරයාගේ උප්පත්තිය, ශ්‍රී සම්බුද්ධත්වයට පත්වීම සහ පරිනිර්වාණය කිරීම යන අවස්ථා තුන සිදුවූ දිනය ලෙස වෙසක් පුන් පොහෝ දිනය සැමරනු ලබනවා. මීට අමතරව බුදුන් වහන්සේ තෙවන වරට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කැලණිය පුදබිමට වැඩම කිරීම ද සුමන සමන් දෙවියන්ගේ ආරාධනයෙන් සමනළ කන්ද මුදුනේ බුදු සිරිපා පිහිටුවීමද අද වැනි දිනක සිදුවූ බවට බෞද්ධ ඉතිහාසයේ සඳහන් වනවා. වෙසක් පොහෝ දිනය ආමිස හා ප්‍රතිපත්ති පූජාවන්ට මුල්තැන දෙමින් ලෝකවාසී බෞද්ධ ජනතාව සමරන අතර ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේද සෑම විහාරස්ථානයකම ආගමික වැඩසටහන් සංවිධානය කර තිබෙනවා.
